If you are unhappy about the way you’ve been spending 2017 so far, it’s still not too late to change some things around and start heading in the right direction. Here are a few things that you can do right now that will help change your life this year.
Most of us are so used to living a mediocre life that even the thought of investing our time towards something purposeful seems beyond our capabilities. Yet, how can you make your life productive if you don’t know what you want to achieve?
Therefore, step one would be to define a purpose for this year. It may even help to write it down on a journal/diary or even make it into a small doodle and use it as the wallpaper on your digital devices. The important part is to make this a purpose that you truly care about. It can’t be a goal someone else wants you to achieve, it has to be something that you believe to be worthwhile.
It’s very important to remember that this purpose shouldn’t be a monumental. While some of you may want to start a business this year, others would have a much simpler purpose such as getting into shape and living a healthy life. Whatever, your purpose is, take a few minutes, repeat it to yourself and if it feels right, note it down and start working towards it.
This may sound more pessimistic than encouraging. However, if we really think about it, most of us choose to waste our time each day because we have an absolute certainty that it isn’t going to be our last.
But, boy aren’t we wrong.
No matter how young and healthy we are, there is no guarantee on life.
The moment you realize the value every single day holds, the intrinsic force we have as humans to protect what’s valuable will kick in. And before you know it, you will be doing more and achieving more than you ever thought possible.
We all love living in our own little bubble. A place that is safe and free from any danger.
But until you decide to step out and experience other things in life, you will never know how much potential you really have. Therefore, make a conscious effort to do things that scare you this year. This doesn’t mean that you should go bungee jumping one day and jump off an aircraft the next. Just take a small yet brave step towards embracing something new. It could be as simple as signing up for a task that you don’t quite know how to do or becoming friends with someone who used to intimidate you.
The biggest challenge is to give into your fears. The rest will follow through.
